THE VILLA and THE COTTAGE

The Felceto Villa has a very long history of hospitality. Originally the structure was a Convent of nuns of the Catholic Church. In the 15th century become also a place where pilgrims coming from Rome were given refuge and solace on their journey to Florence. In the 18th century the property pass the the Noble family of Panzano. Only in recent times the Panzano Municipality acquired the property, and it was turned into a farmer residence for the people who tended to the olive groves, to the vineyards and to the land. Felceto Residence has been an Agriturismo for 15 years.

"Agriturismo"-a combination of the words for "agricolture" and "tourism" in Italian- is a style of vacationing in farm house resorts codified into Italian law in 1985. An agriturismo vacation is suitable for the whole family or for a large group of friends. Most places are located in beautiful surroundings with great views and can be very romantic. An Italian Agriturismo will usually serve foods to guests prepared from raw materials produced on the farm or at least locally. Despite the rural nature of the lodging, one might expect a rustic experience; and yet many Agriturismi feature rather posh accommodations as well as swimming pools. All the above attributes apply to Felceto Villa.

In 2001 the Villa interior went through a thorough remodeling, when the entire door's, window's fixtures and plumbing was upgraded to the twenty-first century. All the original structure has been retained, though: The large and wide kitchen, the two grand living rooms, the gallery, all the wood burning fireplaces, and even the original holy water stoup used by the nuns. Great attention was paid on restructuring and keeping the original large windows and main doors, as well as roof skylights, as to allow, always and everywhere, daylight to come in and to enjoy incomparable views of the countryside.

Actually at Felceto we do not pay homage to the number of stars or the number of wheat spikes listed that classify the Agriturismo industry, because our guiding North Star is just one: Hospitality.

The Villa is 400 Square Meters (4,400 Square Feet) and, even if it doesn't have all the amenities of a 5 star hotel, is still our own home, sweet home, expression of our love and dedication to it. Our experience as antique art dealers and lovers of what is beautiful is reflected in the clean pure form of its comfortable décor.

In your house in Chianti you will find plenty room to sojourn in comfort, with your family or in company of your friends, or to be in a complete tranquillity or solitude, if you so choose. Both the inside and outside of the Villa are congenial to your whishes of the moment.

You can spend your time in the reading room, or in the TV room. You can also enjoy looking at the incredible countryside and the olive grove from the beautiful loggia. If you are in an introspective mood or frame of mind, you can go for a walk using a path that takes you through a secular oak tree wood, part of Felceto's property.

Facing the main Felceto building, a few yards away, there is the Cottage Villa

"Il Forno", composed of a large bedroom and bathroom. (The name "Il Forno" means oven in Italian). Attached to the Cottage, there is a working wood burning oven, where one can use it to express his creative culinary ambitions, by baking breads or aromatic pizzas. The oven can be also used for roasting dishes of great game, like duck, wild boar and pheasant, just to name a few, available from local markets. Along with this palate delectable nourishment, you can drink the best world known wine, Chianti, as Feceto is in the heart of this region.

Your stay at Felceto is an experience that keeps on giving, and its memories will refresh your soul and spirit forever, you will have discovered a dimension and appeasement of yourself that you never thought existed.

Come and be part of us.

Your Hosts, the Del Mastios.
